All The Announcements from Image Expo!

A lot of comics are being announced, for a start! Right now over at their Expo, Image Comics are busy announcing books from creators like Brandon Graham, Marian Churchland, Joe Keatinge, Joshua Williamson and more. Here’s what we’ve got so far!

Eric Stephenson has been unveiling books as part of his keynote address at the expo, inviting various creators to crash the stage and announce their new books for the company. So far these include new titles, titles announced at last year’s expo, revivals of old properties, and anthology-esque sort of thingys. You can have more detail later on, but for the time being I’ll just give a short look at all their new books. Here we go:

Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta on OUTCAST, which will start with a $2.99 first issue that clocks in at over 40 pages.

Joe Keatinge and Khary Randolph on TECH JACKET, a revival of Kirkman’s series which he feels may have been cancelled before time. The new series, Tech Jacket Digital, is three issues long and apparently will be released today.

Joe Keatinge and Leila Del Duca on SHUTTER, an adventure series which will apparently be fairly bonkers and feature a minotaur at some point.

Brandon Graham and Marian Churchland, Emma Rios et al on 8HOUSE, a series about 8 magical houses which control the universe. A whole range of creators will be involved in this extensive project, with Rios contributing a story she’ll write.

Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson (the creative team behind Masks and Mobsters for Monkeybrain) on NAILBITER, a series about a town where 16 of the world’s worst serial killers have all hailed from. The book will follow investigators as they try to work out just why that’s the case.

Ted McKeever on THE SUPERANNUATED MAN.

Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini on LOW, a sci-fi series set in a distant future where the last members of mankind are looking for somewhere to call their home.

Matt Fraction and Christian Ward on ODY-C, announced at last year’s expo. This is a gender-flipped version of the Odyssey, and set in space.

Matt Fraction and Fabio Moon on CASANOVA ACEDIA, with back-ups from Michael Chabon and Gabriel Ba.

Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentino De Landro on BITCH PLANET, a tribute to exploitation movies of the 60s and 70s. The cover describes it as “girl gangs, caged and enraged”.

Nick Spencer and Morgan Jeske on GREAT BEYOND, a series about an afterlife where the quality of your life after death depends on how rich you were in life.

Nick Spencer and Butch Guice on PARADIGMS, a fantasy series with a bit of a religious twist.

Nick Spencer and Frazer Irving on CERULEAN, a sci-fi about the last survivors of Earth uploading their consciousness into a rocket and sending it off into space.

James Robinson and Greg Hinkle on an unnamed, semi-autobiographical comic about… them, as they try to revive the golden age character Airboy whilst getting very drunk.

Nick Dragotta, Fred Van Lente, Tom Fowler and Jordie Bellaire on HOWTOONS, Dragotta’s educational kids comics.

Kyle Higgins, Alec Siegel and Rod Reis on C.O.W.L. which stands for “chicago organised workers league” and is about a superhero labour union in the 1960s who succeed in defeating the last villain left. What do they do next?

Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie on THE WICKED & THE DIVINE, about Gods who – once a generation – drop into mortal form and wander the Earth. This will be about the current generation of Gods on earth. McKelvie will draw the first arc, then do Phonogram Vol 3, and then come back for arc 3 of this.

Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham on NAMELESS, a horror story

Bill Willingham and Barry Kitson on RESTORATION, about “a great big old god sitting on the crushed ruins of a modern city”.

Scott Snyder and Jock on WYTCHES. It is about, unsurprisingly, witches. This will be a horror series

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips on THE FADE OUT. Brubaker also announced that he has signed a five-year exclusive contract with Image.
