The 31 Greatest Marvel Characters: Number Fifteen!

Ireland’s finest, Molly Fitzgerald has been fighting crime since the Contest of Champions, way back in the 80s. Since then she’s made fairly infrequent appearances in Marvel comics, having had a bit of a run during the 90s but then vanishing for almost thirteen years.

When she came back, it was with the dream creative team of Kathryn Immonen and Colleen Coover, who had her retire from superheroics in order to open a hairdresser for heroes.

Since then, she was gone again – but the recent Irish surge in comics (with Declan Shalvey, Stephen Mooney and Nick Roche all heading to Marvel) meant she wouldn’t be gone for long. Will Sliney was the one who finally got to bring her back to comics, in Fearless Defenders. Tired of hairdressing, Moly moved to New York and opened – of course – an Irish bar for heroes to drink in.

The Bar With No Name got shut down – but Shamrock’s bar keeps going! She runs a tight ship, does that Molly Fitzgerald.
