Jim Zub and Steve Cummings Unveil ‘Wayward’ at Image

After a few days of teasers, Jim Zub and Steve Cummings have revealed their new Image series Wayward, which’ll start in August. Set in Tokyo, the series follows a group of teens as they take on the monsters of Japanese mythology, and is being pitched as a spiritual successor to Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Zub’s first creator-owned book since Skullkickers – which will be starting to wrap up the run shortly – Wayward features a half-Irish, half-Japanese lead character called Rori Lane, which is the first time a character has ever been described in such a manner. Moving to Japan and attending  a new school, and starts to meet a group of other teenagers who all eventually get drawn into supernatural-fighting action and adventure.

Co-created by Cummings and Zub, the series will begin in August. You can find an interview with Zub here.
