Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving’s ‘Annihilator’ Gets September Release Date

A six issue miniseries from Legendary Comics which was announced way back in 2012 and then subsequently lost to limbo, Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving’s ‘Annihilator’ will see release this September.

Any creator-owned project from a creative team of that calibre is going to be notable, and it’s good to see the series finally see the light. Morrison’s departure from mainstream comics over the last few years has a slow one, and it’s been unusual to see the writer subsequently stumble from project to project with such little fanfare.

The writer released ‘Happy!’ last year at Image, and will be following that up with Nameless later this year. Happy saw mixed reviews – it was a fine series, but nothing particularly spectacular from such a popular and innovative writer as Morrison. Nameless, too, doesn’t feel as though it’s caught much attention so far, although that could change as we get closer to the publication date for it.

So with that in mind, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on how much attention this series gets over the next few months. Here’s a solicitation and some preview pages:

Washed-up Hollywood screenwriter Ray Spass is caught in a downward spiral of broken relationships, wild parties and self-destruction. Out of luck and out of chances, he’s one failed script away from fading into obscurity. Little does he know he’s about to write the story of his life.

As his imagination runs rampant, Ray must join forces with his own fictional character Max Nomax on a reality-bending race to stop the entire universe from imploding… without blowing his own mind in the process.
