IT’S BEEN quite a run, but it had to end eventually. The majority of Earwolf’s podcasting network – seemingly – will be uniting later this year for ‘Deadpool #250’, a made-up anniversary issue which will also mark the end of the Gerry Duggan/Brian Posehn run with the character.
The issue, an oversized thing, will see Deadpool killed off at the end, too. And he’ll wear a beret at some point.
Writers/podcast hosts including Paul Scheer, Scott Aukerman, Jason Mantzoukas and Bens Acker and Blacker will join for the issue, writing a series of short stories about Deadpool’s supporting cast alongside the main storyline.
The solicitation unravels as such:
That’s right—if you add together all the Deadpool series (creatively) issue 45 is the big 250th issue of Deadpool! What better way to celebrate than to end the series? In our over-sized main story, ULTIMATUM comes at Deadpool for revenge, so he has no choice but to take them on—ALL OF THEM. Then, in an Infinity Gauntlet crossover, what would Deadpool do if he got the six gems from Thanos? Plus: a slew of stories showcasing Deadpool’s closest friends and allies by special guest writers! Also, SPOILER: Deadpool dies at the end of the issue.
Deadpool editor Jordan D. White has been known for bringing in podcast hosts/comedy writers for runs at Marvel – Posehn himself has a show at Earwolf, and other comedians like Wyatt Cenac and Elliot Kalan have written under his watchful eye in the past.
With Posehn and Duggan now heading off, this seems like the perfect time for The Apple Sisters to launch a Lila Cheney series in place of Deadpool, if you ask me.
